Soffit Design
|
The Soffi-Steel® System cover shield is designed with a catch point edge that creates a “Snap-Lock” connection with pre-attached shield clips, rendering our soffit system virtually irremovable and tamper proof.
The Soffi-Steel® System has a sealant retaining channel designed to firmly house the appropriate amount of caulk for additional long-term security and elimination of gapping that can occur due to substrate inconsistencies.
The Soffi-Steel® System has an internal sleeve coupling that aligns joints and connects sections allowing for a smooth, streamlined exterior finish.
Internal wall flanges are employed to assure greater integrity and finish off ends of runs without gaps.

Employs no catch point and instead a flat, elementary flange that merely lays over a piece of steel banding. There are no formal anchoring mechanisms securing it in place leaving the material susceptible to external manipulation.
No furrow to preserve sealant. Application of caulk, if applied, is messy, difficult and time consuming.
Utilizes cheap, shoddy exterior couplings and at times none at all. This renders it vulnerable to tampering, potential placement of hidden contraband and gradual shifting of the cover, creating an unappealing finish.
Does not use wall flanges for internal support and anchoring, leaving the system minimally reinforced and prone to gapping between the material and substrate.

Material
|
The Soffi-Steel® System, when produced from a G90 zinc-galvanized paintgrip 20-gauge steel, is approximately 300-400% stiffer (more resistant to damage) than aluminum.

Generally produced from a flimsy .030 aluminum material or cold rolled steel without G90 zinc-galvanized paintgrip finish.

Finish
|
The Soffi-Steel® System is powder coated with a hardened, durable Sherwin Williams hybrid paint, color matched to the precise color desired by the owner. Easily touched-up.
|
Generally comes furnished with an “Alumaklad” or “Colorklad” finish that scratches easily and can be difficult to field match with touch-up. Does not come available color matched to owner specifications.

Shield Clips
|
Clips are formed of 21-gauge spring steel, and then chromium plated to preclude corrosion. Designed with a reverse curvature that physically hooks onto the soffit, rendering our hung material tamper proof.
|
Rudimentary pieces of steel banding lacking chrome plating or means to formally secure soffits. Soffit can be easily removed with minimal efforts subjecting it tampering or hidden contraband.

Caulk
|
Grice Engineering utilizes a premium grade (Sonneborn Np-1) paintable polyurethane caulk that is highly resistant to drying, cracking and peeling, creating a firmly sealed and streamlined soffit system.
|
Uses an inexpensive, light-duty silicon caulk and sometimes, none at all.
